Latin America, especially the Mercosur countries, are ideally positioned to benefit from the growing demand-supply imbalances in food. Sugar, in spite of hitting 30 year highs this year, is 70% of its all-time high. With India’s looming water shortages from depleting groundwater reserves and erratic monsoon patterns, it is time Indian private food companies look to the LatAm region to mitigate business risk.
